January 2015 – Newsletter

It seems like just yesterday that we were preparing for the 2014 Conventions. However 2014 has come and gone and what a year it was!!!! 2014 ended very quietly surrounded by friends and family over the festive season-which was a great way to wind down the year. We hope that you all had a good time with your nearest and dearests and that 2015 has gotten off to a good start.
To begin with we had to include a little bit on the recent news story of the 132 year old Winchester Rifle (pictured above left) that was found leaning up against a tree, exposed to the harsh elements, in Great Basin National Park, Nevada this month. What a fascinating story and a testament to the quality of rifles that Winchester produce. It will be intriguing to see if the investigation can shed some light as to the owner and the rifle’s history. Jannie has already begun his annual marketing tour with a brief trip to Mumbai, India to visit good friends and clients. He was overwhelmed by the warm welcome he received from absolutely everyone in Mumbai and he would like to say a heartfelt thank-you for the amazing generosity and hospitality that was extended to him to during his whirlwind tour. It was a privilege to be included in so many events and we are really looking forward to seeing some of you later this year

The middle of next week sees Jannie departing from Harare for the United States for the first leg of this year’s scheduled marketi tour. He will touch down in the Carolina’s to spend some much anticipated time with Dennis and Gail before making his way to L Vegas. Jannie is joined this year in the Buffalo Trails booth (Booth Number 3813) by Bert Keightley who some of you already know and have hunted with over the past few years. They both look forward to seeing faces old and new in Sin City!!! After Las Vegas, Jannie will return to Harare for a few days (to get some laundry done !!!) and he will then depart for Austria fo the annual “Die Hohe Jagd & Fischerei Messe” in Salzburg. This year will be a little different for us in Salzburg as renowned artist!! Will Maberley will be with Jannie in the Buffalo Trails booth (Booth 1215) displaying some of his fantastic wildlife pieces. After thi Jannie will spend a few days visiting Jochen in Switzerland before returning to Zimbabwe for his first hunt of the season.

We would also like to take this opportunity to clarify a few representation queries. It has recently come to our attention that there may be some confusion with regards to our business relationships and family involvement. Given that the entire Meyer family is involved in hunting in Zimbabwe under various umbrellas, this is more than under- standable. So to clarify, Jannie Meyer Jnr is the sole owner of Buffalo Trails Safaris and as such is only responsible for hunts booked through himself or his wife,
Hayley Flaxman Meyer at Buffalo Trails Safaris.

It would also be remiss of us not to say a huge thank-you to all of our loyal clientele who return time after time to hunt with us. Your support is genuinely appreciated – thank you to all of you – you guys know who you are!!!! And for those of you who haven’t managed to hunt with us yet-let’s change that!!!!!!
Until the season begins-stay safe and we look forward to seeing some of you in Las Vegas & Salzburg.
