Our sincere apologies that it has been so long since our last newsletter. As always the winter months are our peak season and as such everyone has been busy out in the field on numerous hunts throughout the country. With a few days break we are catching up with ourselves and all of our “house-keeping” before we all depart again on the final hunts of the season leading up to the much anticipated rainy season.
Late July saw Jochen and Marc return for their 9th safari with us in as many consecutive years with P H Jannie Meyer Jnr. This year we started off in Sengwa, hunting a buffalo bull and a substantial plainsgame bag. Having shot the buffalo on the first day Jochen was then able to hunt a variety of species including his reed buck (pictured above right). Marc then joined the safari a week in to the hunt and right off the bat shot a good zebra. Having finished at Sengwa we moved to Matetsi for the last few days of the hunt, primarily for small cats and plainsgame. Marc took a fine civet, a huge caracal (pictured top left), together with a nice specimen of a kudu. Weidmansheil Marc & Jochen on a great bag!! -as always such a privilege to spend time with both of you and we are already looking forward to next year’s adventure.
Rod and his whole family then arrived in Chirundu to pursue Rod’s dream of hunting leopard. Guided by Jannie Meyer, Rod’s hard work, patience and determination, combined with being a great shot paid off and Rod was rewarded with a huge Tom (pictured above left) on day nine – finally ful- filling the life-long dream. Congratulations Rod-you really deserved it!!! They then carried on to bag a hyena early one morning (pictured above right) and an exceptional kudu (pictured above centre) was an added bonus. On the rare occasions that Rod’s wife and daughter’s didn’t accompa- ny the hunt they managed a few days fishing & game viewing with each landing a sizeable tiger fish. A quality hunt with quality people !!!
