May/June 2014 – Newsletter

Since our last newsletter Buffalo Trails Safaris have been very busy with numerous hunts taking place. One of our longest standing clients Marc brought his daughter on her first trip to Africa and they had a fantastic time together. Courtney showed great composure and enthusiasm on the hunt taking zebra, impala, waterbuck and the biggest tiger fish (pictured below left). Well done Courtney-your enthusiasm was infectious and a joy to be around. Marc shot a big civet, bushbuck (pictured below centre) and impala (pictured below right). Marc- I have no doubt that we will be seeing you both again in the not too distant future now that Courtney has the bug!!!

Late May saw Uwe return for his third consecutive elephant hunt with Buffalo Trails, guided by PH Johan Bezuidenhout. He shot a good bull (pictured top right) together with a tuskless elephant. As always he was a pleasure to hunt with Weidmans Heil Uwe!!!!
Dick also then returned to us, this time hunting with PH Bert Keightley in the Nyamandlovu area of Zimbabwe. Dick shot a great sable and then went to Victoria Falls to see one of the seven wonders of the world. Dick experienced some of the coldest temperatures in Zimbabwe but he was kept warm sipping on his favourite Rifle Red. Eugenio also completed his hunt combining concessions in Matetsi East and Binga. Eugenio bagged a good specimen of a sable, a great hippo (pictured bottom left) and a waterbuck. Eugenio also rounded his trip off at Victoria Falls and we look forward to welcoming you back soon for an elephant bull hunt!!

Early June saw Jannie Meyer and five other Professional Hunters head up to Chirundu to hunt our largest group to date. It was an honour and a privilege for Buffalo Trails to be involved in a hunt with one of India’s premier families who were accompanied by a large and loyal following. Despite the size of the group everyone worked togeth er to make this a phenomenal hunt. Over the course of the week seven great buffalo, a 47lb elephant (pictured above left) and a Zambezi Valley lion (pictured above centre) were taken together with some outstanding plainsgame. Thank-you to everyone involved who made this such a unique and educational experience-we are really looking forward to doing the same again next year.

We are also still waiting to hear what US Fish & Wildlife have decided on regarding the suspension of elephant imports into the United States for the 2015 hunting season – as soon as we hear anything definitive – we will advise everyone accordingly.
And last but not least – due to receiving the late quota in Nyakasanga we now have availability for this year for almost all key species. If you are interested please contact the office for full pricing.
