September 2016 – Newsletter

September saw the return of decades long clients and good friends, father and son team, Jim and Tim. On this occasion Jannie Meyer Jr. ventured south to Nuanetsi where Tim was to hunt buffalo and whatever plainsgame we could bag. Early on they focused on hunting the evasive dagga boys. Fickle winds and dense vegetation thwarted their efforts for the first couple of days but after numerous busted stalks, they managed to sneak up on a group of unsus- pecting bulls and Tim was able to pull off a great shot on and the follow-up revealed the mortally wounded buffalo (pictured below centre) -well done Tim!!! Having already previously hunted the majority of plainsgame species, Tim’s focus was largely on nyala (pictured below left) and bushbuck which he managed to bag over the remaining days.
They then returned to Harare and said “goodbye” to Tim and “hello” to his mother, Camilla who then arrived for her leg of the adventure to take place in Coutada 9 in Mozambique. A good sable was the main aim of this hunt. Camilla managed to bag herself a very good nyala and warthog (pictured below right) early on in the hunt but patiently held out for a big sable and her patience was rewarded on the ninth day when she took a phenomenal old sable bull (pictured top right) of 43.5inch-the biggest ever taken in the area!! Huge congratulations Camilla-and, as always a real pleasure to hunt with you and get to spend some quality time with all of you and enjoy Tim’s hysterical antics!!!

We still have a few late 2016 specials available for buffalo/plainsgame and also managed to secure an additional lion permit which is also available on a late season deal. If you may be interested in any of these hunts please contact us for prices and available dates.
Our 2017 bookings are also open and we are now gearing up for SCI in Las Vegas and we will again be attending the Grand Slam Club/Ovis Convention also in Las Vegas in the last week of January 2017. We are really looking forward to these conventions and will be sending out all of the finalised details in our next newsletter.
