Nyakasanga is one of the premier hunting areas in Africa. It is located 390 kilometers from Harare, which is a +/- 6 hour drive from Harare International airport, or alternatively a 50 minute flight in a light aircraft by private air charter.
Nyaksanaga, named after the Nyakasanga River, is a truly wild 380,000 acre National Parks Hunting Concession. Located directly on the Lower Zambezi River, approximately 80kms below Kariba Dam Wall, it borders three incredible locations: the world famous National Heritage site Mana pools to the east, Rifa National Park, a private photographic area, to the west, and the Zambezi Valley Escarpment to the south. This geographical placement makes it one of the most sought after hunting areas in Zimbabwe as there is a constant influx of wildlife from the surrounding photographic areas that increases the resident population.
The abundance of water both in the Zambezi River and the multitude of pans, makes it able to sustain a large wildlife population. The concession is made up of thick jesse patches where game takes refuge during the heat of the day, Cathedral Mopane, and huge flood plains along the Ruckomechi River. Being a designated safari area it is relatively untouched, save for a few fishing villages bordering the hunting concession. A good road network makes most of the hunting area easily accessible.
Being a wilderness area, malaria and tsetse flies are present. It is advisable to take the necessary precautions prior to, during, and after your safari.
