In 2019 Jannie Meyer was presented the “Outstanding Plainsgame Specimen” Award.
In 2018 Jannie Meyer was presented the “Best of Three Elephant” Award for taking three of the best elephant in the same year – weighing in at 74lbs, 70lbs and 55lbs. These trophies were out of Gonarezhou.
In 2018 Jannie Meyer was presented the “Best Elephant Runner-Up” Award for taking the second best elephant that year – weighing in at 74lbs. This trophy was out of Gonarezhou.
In 2010 Jannie Meyer was presented the “Gallantry” Award for his bravery and unwavering resolve when his hunting party was attacked by a lioness in Chewore South. Special mention here also goes to honorary apprentice Jaime Diaz Torres who was also awarded the “Gallantry” Award, for his bravery and level-headedness in the same situation. Both Jannie and Jaime reminisce often about that day and are still referred to as “The Shumba Boys”, which the doctors and nurses fondly nicknamed them.
